  • Spot clean only with a barely damp cloth and mild, pH-neutral soap. Blot — do not rub or scrub.
  • Vacuum periodically on low suction — avoid beater brush mode which can damage the weave.
  • If spills occur, blot immediately with a dry cloth. Do not allow liquid to soak into the fibre.
  • Rotate occasionally to equalise wear, especially in high-traffic placements.
  • Use furniture protectors under heavy legs to prevent the weave from compressing permanently.
  • If a strand pulls free, trim with scissors — do not pull the yarn as this loosens the weave.
  • Periodic professional dry cleaning by a natural fibre specialist is recommended for deep cleaning.
  • Avoid steam cleaning, soaking, or prolonged moisture exposure as jute is sensitive to water damage.
  • Shipping charges and destination countriy's import duties will be paid by buyer.
  • In-stock standard sizes: dispatched within 2–3 business days. Delivery in 5–10 business days depending on location.
  • Made-to-order sizes (200×300 cm, custom): 4–6 week production lead time.
  • Custom sizes or custom colourways: 8–12 week lead time from confirmed order.
  • All rugs are professionally packaged in protective wrapping for transit. Export cartons available for international freight.
  • Rug sizes and pattern placement may vary slightly — natural fibre rugs are hand-made and no two pieces are identical.
  • Actual colours may differ slightly due to screen calibration and lighting conditions. Physical samples available on request.

Sustainable Handcrafted Natural Fibre

The chevron is one of the oldest repeating forms in textile design — a single zig-zag line, stacked and mirrored until it reads as motion across a floor. The Black Chevron Geometric Handmade Area Rug takes that idea and renders it in high contrast: bands of natural undyed jute alternating with bands of black, each stripe breaking at a sharp point rather than running straight.

"The pattern is built directly into the weave — no dye applied after construction, no printed motif sitting on top of the fibre."

Each black band is formed because a dyed jute yarn has been woven into that position in the pattern repeat, row by row, alongside the undyed natural yarn. Because this is handwoven rather than machine-printed, the points of each zig-zag carry small, human variations from row to row — a quality that comes from the loom and the hand guiding it, not a flaw to be corrected.

Natural jute has a quality that shifts between golden and amber depending on the light, so the pale bands of this rug are never a flat, uniform tan — they read differently across the day. Set against the black bands, the contrast gives the chevron pattern real graphic weight, anchoring a room without relying on colour.

Crafted by Artisan Hands

Made by Hand,
From the Ground Up

Every Planet Arts rug tells a story of heritage and craftsmanship. The Black Chevron Geometric Handmade Area Rug is handwoven on a loom, with the weaver alternating natural and black jute yarn according to the chevron repeat as each row is set. Because this is handwoven rather than machine-made, the artisan checks tension and alignment continuously to keep the zig-zag points sharp and the rows straight across the full width of the rug.

Jute is sourced from the Bengal region where climate and soil conditions produce fibre of long staple length and natural lustre. Gauge control at the spinning stage determines the quality of the finished rug — a yarn that varies in thickness produces a surface that sits unevenly and wears inconsistently.

🖐

Entirely Handmade

Each Black Chevron rug is woven entirely by hand. No two pieces are identical — minor variations in the zig-zag points and texture are a feature of hand construction.

📐

Hundreds of Configurations

Standard sizes in natural jute or the black chevron colourway, or custom size and colourway for trade and project orders. Scales from a 120×180 cm accent to a 200×300 cm centrepiece.

Natural fibre

Finest Natural Fibre

Long-staple jute from the Bengal plains

The best jute fibre comes from a specific region of climate and soil. We source from spinning units that maintain consistent gauge — the foundation of a rug that wears evenly and lasts.

Light on rug

Texture & Character

A surface that changes with the light

The ridged woven surface catches raking light and shifts from golden-blonde in morning sun to deep amber under warm interior lighting. No synthetic material behaves this way.

Hand weaving

Woven by Hand

Each piece is made on a hand loom

The Black Chevron rug is woven row by row by a skilled artisan. It takes years of practice to keep a zig-zag pattern sharp and consistent across a full-size rug. This is not mass production.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked

  • Standard sizes run from 120×180 cm up to 200×300 cm. Custom dimensions are available for trade and project orders. Contact us with your specification and we'll confirm availability and lead time.

  • The rug is made from natural jute fibre throughout. The black bands are achieved using a dyed jute yarn woven into the chevron pattern during construction. No synthetic fibres are used in the standard colourway. Material composition for custom colourways is available on request.

  • Spot clean with a barely damp cloth and mild, pH-neutral soap. Blot — do not rub. Allow to dry fully before replacing furniture. Avoid soaking or steam cleaning. For significant soiling, professional dry cleaning by a natural fibre specialist is recommended.

  • Yes. This rug is available with an anti-slip latex backing applied at production if specified at the time of order. Backing is not standard and must be requested. A quality rug pad is also recommended on hard floors regardless of backing choice.

  • Standard colourways in standard sizes carry a 4–6 week production lead time from confirmed order. Custom sizes or colourways require 8–12 weeks. Samples are typically dispatched within 5–7 working days. For time-sensitive projects, contact our trade team to discuss what is feasible.

  • Yes. Custom colourways are available for qualifying trade and hospitality accounts, typically with a minimum of 10 pieces per colourway. We can work from Pantone or NCS references, or from a physical sample. Custom colourway development takes approximately 3–4 weeks before production begins.

  • Private label packaging and labelling is available for qualifying accounts — including custom brand tags, care labels, and branded packaging for hotel amenity and retail wholesale programmes. Contact our trade team with your account details.

  • This rug is designed for interior use. Natural jute is sensitive to sustained moisture and weather exposure. For covered terraces with minimal humidity, seasonal placement is possible — but permanent outdoor use will significantly shorten the rug's lifespan.
