Hand-braided from premium natural jute, our rugs bring genuine artisan character to luxury interiors worldwide. Manufactured in Jaipur, exported globally. Custom sizes, shapes and private label collections available.
Braided jute rugs are produced by coiling and stitching together thick, tightly twisted strands of natural jute fibre — a construction that creates the characteristic chunky, dimensional texture that defines the style. Unlike flatweave alternatives, braided construction produces genuine depth and body: rugs with tactile presence that hold their form underfoot over years of use.
At Planet Arts, every braided jute rug is produced by hand by skilled artisan teams in our Jaipur facility. The braiding technique we use has been refined over decades of export production — ensuring consistent quality across bulk orders, reliable repeat capability and the flexibility to develop custom specifications for designer and retail clients worldwide.
Twelve distinct expressions of hand-braided jute craftsmanship. All styles are available with custom sizing, colour accents and private label development.

Discuss Your BriefThe quality of a braided jute rug is determined entirely by how it is made. We do not cut corners on fibre grade, braid density or finishing.
We source long-staple natural jute selected for consistency of colour and fibre strength. Premium raw material is the foundation of a braided rug that performs well over time.
Each rug is hand-braided by trained artisans working to consistent tension specifications. Hand braiding produces the dimensional, tactile quality that machine production cannot replicate.
Round and oval forms are produced by braiding from a central point outward in a continuous coil and hand-stitching each row. This technique allows true circular rugs at any diameter without compromise to edge integrity.
Braided jute rugs have genuine weight and body. Strand gauge, braid tightness and stitching density are all adjusted to specification — from relaxed coastal constructions to firm, dense area rug formats.
Jute is a strong, resilient natural fibre. Properly produced braided jute rugs are suited to high-traffic domestic use and medium-traffic commercial environments including boutique hospitality.
Large area braided jute rugs require extended team co-ordination to maintain consistent braid quality across the full surface. Our artisan teams are structured for this — we regularly produce rugs to 3 m × 5 m and larger.
Natural jute braids can be combined with dyed jute, cotton or wool accent strands. Colour integration is handled at the braiding stage for a clean, consistent result that does not fade at the surface.
Finished braided rugs are inspected strand by strand, trimmed, edge-bound where specified and rolled for export. Packaging is designed around the rug format to protect construction integrity in transit.
Braided jute rugs are one of the most versatile natural fibre choices in interior specification. Their organic texture, visual warmth and honest materiality translate across a wide range of residential and hospitality projects.
In a market full of synthetic approximations of organic material, braided jute rugs offer something that cannot be imitated: genuine natural fibre, genuine handcraft, genuine warmth.
The braided construction creates three-dimensional surface depth that catches light and shadow in a way flatweave or machine-made rugs cannot. Every rug has a tactile, handcrafted quality that reads clearly in an interior.
Jute is a fully natural, rapidly renewable plant fibre. As sustainability becomes a specification priority for designers and procurement teams, natural fibre rugs have clear material credentials that synthetic options lack.
The warm, honeyed tones of natural jute bring immediate warmth to interiors. Braided jute rugs work within neutral, Scandinavian, biophilic and earthy colour palettes without competing with other elements in the space.
Braided jute rugs have no trend dependency. The combination of natural material and handcrafted construction produces a timeless result that does not date — important for clients investing in long-term interior solutions.
Unlike most imported rug formats, braided jute rugs from Planet Arts can be produced in virtually any size — from small accent rugs through to room-scale formats — ensuring a perfect fit for every project specification.
Braided jute works as a standalone piece or as a layering base. Round rugs define seating areas. Oval runners ground dining tables. Large rectangular formats anchor open-plan living spaces. The format adapts to the interior requirement.
Each rug carries the visible evidence of human making. The slight irregularities inherent in hand braiding are precisely what makes these rugs feel authentic rather than manufactured — a quality that clients at the luxury end of the market recognise and value.
Natural jute forms the base of each rug, but accent colours can be introduced through cotton or wool strands braided into the construction. This allows quiet customisation without losing the organic character of the material.
Custom development is not a side offering at Planet Arts — it is central to how we work. The majority of our export production involves custom specifications: sizes that do not exist in standard ranges, shapes developed for specific rooms, colour accents matched to project palettes, and private label ranges built for retail clients worldwide.
Our design and production teams in Jaipur work directly with interior designers, importers, buyers and boutique brands to develop braided jute rug specifications from brief to production-ready sample. We provide clear lead time estimates, sampling protocols and production pricing at the outset so that project planning is straightforward.

Send Your BriefEvery braided jute rug we export is made in our own production facility in Jaipur, Rajasthan. No middlemen. No third-party sourcing.
Raw jute is assessed for fibre length, colour consistency and tensile quality before entering production. We source from established supply relationships within Rajasthan and West Bengal.
Jute is twisted and rolled into strands at the specified gauge for each rug style. Dyed or accent strands are prepared in parallel where the design requires them.
Artisan braiders work to consistent tension and rhythm, building the rug braid by braid. Supervisors check braid uniformity at regular intervals throughout production.
Completed braids are coiled and hand-stitched row by row. Stitch density and tension are controlled to maintain consistent flatness and body across the full rug surface.
Finished rugs are inspected against specification: dimensions, braid evenness, edge quality, stitch integrity and surface uniformity. Rugs outside tolerance are reworked before sign-off.
Approved rugs are rolled, wrapped and packed for export to North America, Europe, the UK, Australia and the Middle East. Consolidated container and LCL options are available for bulk orders.
Established in Jaipur in 2004, Planet Arts has over two decades of experience supplying braided jute rugs and natural fibre textiles to importers, designers and retailers across the world.
We are not a trading company or export agent. Planet Arts owns its production facility in Jaipur. This means you have direct access to manufacturing — transparent pricing, faster development and genuine quality control at source.

We develop custom braided jute rug collections for retailers and boutique brands — from initial design development through sampling and bulk production. Full private label capability including branded packaging and exclusive design rights.
Our Jaipur artisan teams are structured for reliable bulk output without sacrificing hand-braided quality. Production scheduling is transparent — lead times are communicated clearly and met consistently.
In-house quality control at every stage of production. We do not ship rugs that have not passed our own inspection process. Third-party inspection can be arranged for large orders on request.

Braided jute rugs are floor coverings constructed by tightly twisting natural jute fibre into strands, braiding those strands into continuous ropes, and then coiling and stitching the braids together to form the rug body. The result is a thick, textured rug with genuine dimensional depth — quite different in character and construction from flatweave or woven jute rugs.
The process begins with preparing natural jute fibre into consistent strands of a specified gauge. These strands are then hand-braided by artisans working to regular tension — producing the characteristic thick, rope-like braids. The braids are coiled from a central point outward and hand-stitched at every row to form the finished rug. In our Jaipur facility, each stage of this process is overseen by experienced supervisors to ensure consistency across the full production run.
Yes. Jute is a naturally strong plant fibre, and the braided construction adds structural integrity by layering multiple strands into a dense, tightly stitched body. Properly made braided jute rugs perform well in high-traffic domestic areas and are suited to medium-traffic hospitality environments. Longevity depends on the quality of the original construction — braid tightness, stitch density and fibre grade all play a role.
Yes — custom sizing is one of the core reasons clients work with us directly rather than buying from stock. We produce braided jute rugs in any rectangular dimension, from small accent rugs through to large-format room-scale pieces. There is no restriction on custom sizing for development or bulk orders.
Yes. Round braided jute rugs are among our most requested formats. Circular rugs are produced by braiding from a central point outward in a continuous coil and hand-stitching each row to maintain a true circular edge. We produce round braided jute rugs from 60 cm to over 300 cm in diameter. Custom diameters are available on request.
Yes. Oval braided jute rugs are produced using the same coiled construction technique as round rugs. The oval format is particularly well suited to hallways, dining rooms and bedroom-end applications. We produce oval rugs in any dimension required.
Minimum order quantities depend on the specification. For standard styles in listed sizes, we can accommodate smaller repeat orders. For custom development — new sizes, shapes or colour specifications — we discuss minimums on a project-by-project basis. Contact our team with your requirement and we will advise clearly at the outset.
Yes. Colour can be introduced through dyed jute, cotton or wool accent strands braided into the construction alongside the natural jute. The colour integration happens at the braiding stage, which produces a clean result that does not fade at the surface. Custom colour matching against project swatches or Pantone references is available for bulk orders.
Yes. We offer cotton, wool and leather border options on braided jute rugs. Border width and colour are fully customisable. Bordered designs are popular for dining rooms and entry areas where a defined edge is preferable to the soft, organic finish of an unbordered braid.
Yes. Private label development is an established part of our business. We work with retailers and boutique brands to develop exclusive braided jute rug collections — from initial design and sampling through to bulk production with branded swing tags, custom packaging and exclusivity arrangements where required.
Absolutely. We work regularly with interior designers on both project-specific custom orders and longer-term collection development. Designers can provide size specifications, shape requirements, colour references and material preferences, and we develop samples from that brief. Trade pricing is available for qualifying design practices.
Lead times depend on order size and whether the specification requires custom development. For standard styles in existing constructions, lead times typically run from four to eight weeks. Custom development orders — new sizes, shapes, colour specifications or construction variants — require an additional sampling phase before bulk production. We provide clear lead time estimates at the enquiry stage and maintain them throughout production.
Yes. We export braided jute rugs to North America, across Europe, the United Kingdom, Australia and the Middle East. We handle all export documentation, commercial invoicing and packaging. We work with established freight partners for both FCL and LCL container shipments and can advise on the most efficient logistics approach for each order size and destination.
All our braided jute rugs are manufactured in Jaipur, Rajasthan, India. Jaipur is one of the world's major centres of rug and textile production, with deep artisan expertise in natural fibre construction. Planet Arts has operated its own production facility in Jaipur since 2004.
We are a direct manufacturer. Planet Arts owns and operates its own production facility in Jaipur. We do not source from third-party manufacturers or operate as a trading intermediary. This means you are buying directly from the people who make your rugs — with full visibility of the production process and direct access to the team responsible for your order.
Yes. We send samples of existing braided jute rug styles on request. For custom specifications, we produce bespoke samples against your brief before confirming bulk production. Sample costs and lead times are discussed at the enquiry stage. For significant volume orders, sample costs are typically offset against the first production order.
Braided jute rugs work well in living rooms, dining rooms, hallways, bedrooms, studies and home offices. Round formats are particularly effective in seating areas and under circular dining tables. Large rectangular rugs anchor open-plan kitchen and living spaces. The material performs best in dry interior conditions — we do not recommend braided jute rugs for bathrooms or permanently damp environments.
Braided jute rugs can be used with underfloor heating, though we recommend a natural latex or breathable underlay to allow some airflow. Avoid settings above 27°C directly beneath the rug, as sustained high heat can affect natural fibre over time. Consult your underfloor heating supplier for specific guidance relevant to your installation.
Regular vacuuming on a low-suction setting is the most effective maintenance for braided jute rugs. Spot-clean spills promptly with a dry or lightly damp cloth — avoid soaking the rug with liquid. Rotate the rug periodically if it is in a high-traffic area to even out any wear. Professional cleaning is recommended for thorough cleaning rather than wet-washing at home.
We produce braided jute rugs from small accent pieces through to large-format area rugs. For rectangular rugs, we regularly produce formats up to 3 m × 5 m and can go larger for specific projects. Round rugs are available from 60 cm to over 300 cm in diameter. Contact us with your required dimensions and we will confirm production feasibility and lead time.
We do not recommend natural jute braided rugs for permanent outdoor use. Jute is a natural plant fibre that will degrade when exposed to sustained moisture and UV over time. For covered outdoor spaces with minimal moisture exposure — such as a sheltered veranda or loggia — occasional use may be practical, but our braided jute rugs are designed and intended for interior use.
Yes. We develop exclusive braided jute rug designs for retail clients who want collections that are not available to other buyers. Exclusivity arrangements are discussed and agreed at the development stage. This is standard practice for our private label clients.
Yes. A natural latex backing can be applied to the underside of braided jute rugs to add grip and prevent movement on hard floors. Specify this requirement at the enquiry stage and we will include it in the production specification and pricing.
Send us an enquiry through our contact form or by email with your requirements: style or construction reference, size, quantity and destination. Our team in Jaipur will respond within one working day with sampling options, lead times and production pricing. For custom development projects, we arrange a call or video consultation to discuss the brief in detail before developing samples.
